Managing Products in BusinessPlus
Learn how to view, create, edit, price, and organize physical products across your business sites using the BusinessPlus Inventory dashboard.
Overview & Inventory Views
The Products page (Dashboard -> Inventory or /dashboard/products) is your central hub for product catalog management. The dashboard offers both Table and Grid viewing modes, instant text searching across product names, categories, and SKUs, site switching for multi-location businesses, and real-time inventory count statistics (Total, Active, Out of Stock, Low Stock).
Creating a New Product
To add a new product to your catalog, click "+ Add Product" in the top right corner of the Inventory dashboard:
- Select Destination Site: Choose the business site where the product will be available. The form automatically loads that site's active currency and existing categories.
- Enter Core Information: Provide the Product Name (required), Description, and assign a Category (defaults to "general" or pick a custom category).
- Set Retail & Cost Pricing: Enter the selling Retail Price (required), optional Cost Price (used for internal gross margin reporting), and optional Discount Percentage.
- Configure Inventory & SKU: Specify an optional SKU identifier, enter Initial Stock Quantity, and configure an optional Reorder Point threshold.
- Upload Media & Save: Upload a product photo (PNG, JPG, WebP) directly to secure storage or provide an image URL, then click "Save Product".
Editing Existing Products
To edit a product, click the pencil icon on the product row in Table view or open the Product Detail view and click "Edit Product". Modifying product fields updates public storefronts and AI assistant responses immediately.
Inline Quick Price Editing
To adjust prices quickly without opening the full edit modal, click directly on the price cell in Table view. Enter the new numeric amount and press Enter. The price is saved immediately and an administrative audit log (`PRODUCT_PRICE_UPDATED`) is recorded.
Product Availability Controls
Toggle a product's availability between "Available" and "Unavailable". Unavailable products remain saved in your dashboard but are instantly hidden from public storefronts, preventing customers from viewing or ordering them.
Deleting & Restoring Products
BusinessPlus utilizes soft deletion to protect against accidental data loss:
- Soft Deletion: Clicking the trash icon on a product row or bulk-deleting selected items marks them with a deletion timestamp (`deleted_at`), removing them from active storefronts and inventory lists.
- Trash Center Recovery: Soft-deleted products can be viewed in Dashboard -> Trash (/dashboard/trash). Authorized administrators can restore products to active status or permanently delete them.
