Social Post Statuses, Calendar & Publishing Lifecycle
Understand the social post state machine: track publication progress across draft, scheduled, publishing, published, and failed states with automated retry handling.
Social Post Lifecycle Overview
Every social post progresses through distinct operational states from draft composition to successful broadcast across connected channels.
Verified Post Statuses
The five operational states for social posts:
- 1. Draft (`draft`): Work-in-progress post saved in the dashboard. Not yet scheduled or visible to the public.
- 2. Scheduled (`scheduled`): Post is queued with a future timestamp (`scheduled_for`). The cron publisher (`process-scheduled-posts`) will pick it up at the scheduled time.
- 3. Publishing (`publishing`): Temporary processing state while API requests are dispatched to Meta social channels.
- 4. Published (`published`): Post was accepted and published successfully. Contains the external platform post URL.
- 5. Failed (`failed`): Publishing encountered an error (e.g. expired Meta token or unsupported media aspect ratio). Displays error message and allows 1-click retry.
Managing Scheduled Posts in the Social Overview
View upcoming and published posts in Dashboard -> Social -> Overview (`/dashboard/social`). Filter posts by status, inspect channel destination results, edit scheduled copy before publication, or delete queued posts.
